Why should I study self-defense here?

At CCKenpo we provide a safe enviroment with friendly instructors that want to help you in your learning process. Our approach to teaching self-defense is steeped in creating the best learning environment for our students. We do this three ways:

Is this school safe for me/my child?

Anyone looking at a self-defense or martial arts school should be asking this. Safety is our number one concern here at CCKenpo. We have taken all necessary steps to provide you or your child the safest environment possible. All instructors are:

  • Red Cross CPR Certified

All instructors are subject to state and federal background checks to ensure they can work with students of any age. We also screen our instructors for any issues that would create a questionable learning environment for the students.

How Much Are Lessons?

This is usually one of the deciding factors as to whether or not a student joins a school. Our pricing is extremely competitive with other local schools. How much you pay depends on what program you sign up for. We have programs for 3, 6, and 12 months. We do not have long contracts that go more than a year because we understand that a year ahead is a long time to plan. CCKenpo is not about locking you into long contracts written in blood. Our goal is to give you a self-defense education, not take you for all we can get.

To get exact pricing come in a meet with one of our instructors. They will take you through each program and what to expect out of class. Also feel free to email us at info@cckenpo.net with any pricing questions.

What are classes like?

Classes are relaxed yet structured and informative. Every class begins with a warm-up activity. Whether it is hitting the target pads, running basics movements, or exercises we get your blood pumping. Next we hit some stretching and then get into the meat
of the class with drills, sets, forms, and self-defense techniques all
designed to produce capable self-defense skills. You will receive plenty on one on one with the instructors who will guide you as you progress through the AKKI system. Classes are kept structured and paced so you can learn at your own rate in a safe and stress free environment. CCKenpo classes are structured so that you feel like you accomplished something every class. By reinforcing skills and developing new ones we keep class fun and exciting.

Check out class for yourself. See the schedule page to find the class that is right for you then stop in and observe.

How long until I get my Black Belt?

Many times prospective students ask this question expecting a definative answer. The answer depends on the student.

We recommend that students not look at getting their Black Belt as a destination but as a journey. There is a lot of material to learn for Black Belt but there is also a need to understand that material. At CCKenpo we do not want Karate Robots that can only regurgitate the material we have taught them. We want thinking students that know the whys and ask questions to seek deeper understanding.

CCKenpo is NOT a Black Belt factory. We do not have the Black Belt Club, or a Leadership Clubs to ciphen more money out of our students. Our thought on promotion is that the students directly reflect the quality of the school. Poor quality students are a sign of a poor quality school. The difference between our school and other schools is that no one buys their belts here, everyone earns them.
