Frequently Asked Questions
Here are a few of the more commonly asked questions we have encountered. Hopefully your questions will be answered here. If you have a question that is not answered here or if you require more in-depth information please feel free to contact us.
What do you Teach?
A. Our main focus is the Art of AKKI Kenpo Karate; a modern state of the art self-defense orientated martial arts system. Kenpo Karate does not rely on strength or size but fast, power strikes and manipulations developed through through proper body mechanics and leverage. While AKKI Kenpo is a potent street proven self-defense, it is also a fun way to get into shape and improve flexibility while you gain focus and self-confidence.
In addition to our regular program, we also offer weapons training with the AKKI Universal Weapons System. For those interested in the sport of MMA, we also teach submission grappling, BJJ and MMA (Mixed Martial Arts).
How many people are in class?
A. At CCKK our focus is on the student and the student’s progress in AKKI Kenpo. To do this correctly we maintain a low instructor to student ratio. Classes are limited in size so you get plenty of attention from our internationally certified instructors.
Do I have to sign a long contract or pay a down payment?
A. No. Our focus is on teaching Kenpo Karate not selling you into a long iron clad contract. You can pay month to month with no commitment if you like. We have no start up fees, office fees or any other hidden fee. We also don’t play the upgrade game into the master program, black club, leadership program, or what ever face name that many schools put on worthless “extra” programs designed to get more money out of their students.
How Much Do lessons cost?
A. Every student can try out any of our programs absolutely free for a whole week with no strings! Once you decide that CCKK is the place you want to train, your classes will range from $5 to $17.50 per class depending on the program you choose. We want you to train worry free so even after you enter a program you have 30 days to change you mind and get you money back!
What is a typical class like?
A. The general structure is usually kept consistent because we have found that students do better with a structured routine, but the material and lessons change from class to class. Below is a breakdown of how a typical class is structured.
Class starts with a short warm-up and stretching routine.
Basics such as punches, kicking, striking, blocking, foot maneuvers, shadow boxing and bag work. We like bag work, a lot.
We will usually brake the class into smaller groups to do level specific training, sets, drills, and self-defense techniques.
We change up drills and training routines frequently to keep your training fresh. You will be guided and encouraged so you’ll feel your progress as well as your cardio, strength, and overall health improve with our self-paced program.
